I’m Meg Banker, owner/chef of Southern Siren, and it’s my pleasure to cook your meal!
I grew up in a family-run Italian restaurant, where my food service journey began with rolling silverware, filling drinks, and bussing tables — menial tasks to some, but $10 in tips at the end of a shift was a BIG deal in the '90s!
Stuffing my college evenings and weekends with server shifts, it’s fair to say I was more focused on hustle vs. hospitality. That changed when I moved Charleston, attending grad school at night while making biscuits by day with a band of women just as skilled in cooking up killer playlists, pee-your-pants-hilarious stories, and life lessons as they were at baking trays of biscuits.
Starting a catering business wasn’t on my radar a decade ago, but thanks to the encouragement of loved ones and new friends made in the local volunteering space, an idea took shape in 2025: Why not turn my love of cooking, working for myself, and serving others into a career?
I am grateful for every person who has supported me in this journey — especially all of the Southern sirens in my life who have shared their knowledge with me and led by example, giving themselves the green light without fear of failing.
Wherever you are enjoying your Southern Siren meal, I hope that you, too, feel the abundance of this special place, gratitude for the present moment, and connection with loved ones next to you.
